Carers’ Support is a voluntary organisation and an independent charity with a Board of Trustees, partially funded by social services and other bodies.

The primary aims are to support and promote, by any means available, the needs of carers of any age, whether that person cares for their partner, child, parent or sibling.

WHO IS A CARER?

You could be a relative who has become a carer either suddenly or over a period of time.  You run around pretty much all day; You do their shopping, cleaning, you cook and help them to wash and dress as well as looking after their finances and other family issues.

Lots of people do no realise they are `carers’ they just do the right thing for the people they love and don’t expect any help.  Caring for someone, whether they are elderly, frail, have a life long illness or maybe a physical or learning disability can be very rewarding.  It can also be very tiring and stressful and have an impact on your own health.

By providing information, advocacy, emotional and practical support, we hope to bring our services to these people, easing the stress they find themselves under and helping them to be better equipped for their caring role.  We understand that carers often experience a sense of isolation, stress, guilt and anger.

Staff are available to help either over the telephone or face to face.   The Carers’ Centre is open between 10am-4pm Monday-Friday if you need to drop in and see someone.  You can find out the range of support and services we offer carers here.
