Kent Carers' Emergency
Card
The Kent Emergency Card is designed to
provide peace of mind when carers are away from the person
they care for. One of the main concerns carers tell us they
have when leaving the person they look after is what would
happen if they were taken ill or involved in an accident.
The Carers’ Emergency Card enables
immediate access to pre-arranged planned care, giving the
carer the peace of mind they need.
How it works
Carers will be issued with a credit card
sized card that has a unique reference number and emergency
phone number on it. The carer carries the card at all times
so in the case of an accident or sudden illness it can be
used to identify that they care for someone. The card does not
contain any personal details.
In an emergency situation a person
telephones the number on the card and quotes the
registration number. The call is received by Kent County
Council’s 24 hour contact centre. Staff can immediately
access the carers pre-arranged emergency plan and put it
into action. The service is free to use and is available 24 hour a
day, 7 days a week.
