Social
Contact
If you look after a friend or relative
who is ill or disabled or you have a child with special
needs, then why not join us and meet with others in a social
group.
We offer two kinds of support:
Group
support
You can come along for a coffee and a chat, in informal
surroundings, and meet up with others who are facing similar
problems to your own, giving you the opportunity to exchange
information and share any worries you may have.
Speakers from other organisations are often
invited to groups informing carers about other facilities
and advice which is available.

“Coming along to the group regularly has helped me a
great deal; everyone is so friendly and
understanding. I have picked up so many great tips
that have helped me and I don’t feel like I’m coping
with everything on my own any more" |

One to One Support
One–to–one support from a Carers’
Support worker is available for carers either in a private
and confidential room at Norman House in Ashford or
Broadmeadow RCC in Folkestone. A home visit can also be
arranged for carers that find it difficult to leave their
homes due to caring duties or transport difficulties. It is
an opportunity for the carer to discuss any problems,
difficulties or worries that they may have in a confidential
and friendly environment.

“It was such a relief to be able to tell someone
about my worries, I feel more positive about things
and calmer now. And the information I received has
shown me that there is a way forward“ |
